Why Productor?
Hello and thank you for taking the time to visit our website.
My name is Rodolfo Ruffatti Batlle, 6th generation coffee producer & founder of Productor.Coffee: a vertically-integrated coffee production project.
We are involved in:
Plant Breeding: we are creating our own coffee varieties through seed selection and cross-pollination.
Coffee Farming: we manage both our own farms in El Salvador as well as other farms under contract.
Coffee Processing: we do our own fermentations and drying as well as supervise our export preparation.
Exporting: we export our own coffees from El Salvador.
Importing in Europe: in order to facilitate direct trade with roasters in Europe, we have a company in Europe, Productor Europa s.r.o., which imports our own coffee. Once the coffee arrives in Europe, we hand it over to our sister company, Sapere.Coffee, which handles logistics and invoicing in Europe.
Productor means Producer, I chose this word as a personal commitment, as long as we are involved in coffee, we will continue to be coffee producers.
It would be much easier and profitable to sell our farms and focus solely on importing, tell other coffee producers what to do instead of having to do it ourselves.
It was my choice to accept the responsibility of taking over my father's farms, and as long as we are in the coffee industry, we will continue to farm coffee.
This is why Productor is our name, to stay faithful to our roots.
Over the decades, we have survived natural disasters, civil wars and revolutions, kidnappings, misguided land and banking reforms, export prohibitions and we are still here, growing coffee continuously since the 1840s. And we now are facing the greatest, existential challenge of climate change. We accept these challenges and facing them head on.
By working with our coffees, you can support our efforts, so may we may thrive together as a coffee industry well into the future.
